ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the need for non-contact medical robots to alleviate the heavy workload and emotional stress experienced by healthcare professionals while preventing infection. In response, we propose a non-contact robotic diagnostic system for otolaryngology clinics, utilizing a digital twin model for initial design optimization. The system employs a master-slave robot architecture, with the slave robot comprising a flexible endoscope manipulation robot and a parallel robot arm for controlling additional medical instruments. The novel 4 degrees of freedom (DOF) control mechanism enables the single robotic arm to handle the endoscope, facilitating the process compared to the traditional two-handed approach. Phantom experiments were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed flexible endoscope manipulation system in terms of diagnosis completion time, NASA task load index (NASA-TLX), and subjective risk score. The results demonstrate the system's usability and its potential to alternate conventional diagnosis. © 2013 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

There are many different types of exergaming, but one of the most engaging one is the one with virtual reality. This type of gaming allows you to immerse yourself in a completely different world, and it can be a lot of fun. Due to Covid-19 pandemic many people resort to their usual exercise activities and opt to do it at home yet only to find a monotonous and boring fitness routine. VR Real Run is aimed to give a solution on how to have fun and to get fit at the same time. By using the latest and front runner in the VR headsets products, the Oculus Quest 2, we developed an exergame that require user to run in place and jump to play. It also features high score to motivate users in perform better in the next session. A black box test has been well performed and a usability test was came out with a 79 SUS score which translate the application as 'good' therefore its usability is acceptable. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

With the COVID-19 outbreak, people with disabilities have faced difficulties in managing their health owing to restrictions on medical access and use. Therefore, this study aimed to develop an Internet of Things-based health information-sharing mobile app for the disabled and their caregivers and evaluate its usability in maintaining access to health care services. As a first step, 19 user needs were evaluated through the Daily Health app 1.0, developed for the disabled by the National Rehabilitation Center. Based on these needs, the study participants proceeded with mind maps and personas to derive the User Interface. Subsequently, the Daily Health 2.0 program was designed, and heuristic and usability evaluations were conducted by experts. The Daily Health app 2.0 beta version was developed by modifying the detailed functions and design of the app based on the results of experts' opinions. Finally, a usability evaluation was conducted for app users. The app developed in this study will contribute to the efficient health management of people with disabilities in non-face-to-face situations. When combined with robot technology, it is expected that more effective health management will be possible by replacing physical functions that are difficult for people with disabilities. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

One of the biggest lessons many corporations and professional writers learned during the COVID-19 crisis was the importance of authenticity and empathy in everyday interactions with an audience. By implementing a care-based ethical framework, such as an ethics of care framework, for professional communications, professional writers are better able to engage responsibly and ethically with their audiences. This study directly engages care with document creation and performance in technical and professional communication. I compare the effectiveness of two corporate marketing brochures, one developed using a traditional marketing approach and one developed using an ethics of care framework, through two audience surveys: a usability test and a comparison survey. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Craft fairs are spaces where artisans can exhibit their artistic pieces and interact with the public, however this activity is always affected by external factors, such as weather, stoppages, health situation (due to covid-19), among others. This proposal is an innovative contribution to this problem that makes technology available to support this sector. Through a Web platform that incorporates a 3D interface, the craftsman will reach his audience without having to leave his home, since it simulates the environment of a craft fair where you can browse and see the crafts in its 360°, admiring each detail as if the user were in person. The technological infrastructure includes a catalog of all the pieces offered by the artisans and contact details. A filter facilitates the search for parts according to established criteria. The proposal has validations and various functional tests that show the technical feasibility and usability tests that demonstrate its usefulness and ease of use. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

As the COVID-19 in 2020 has increased negative emotions such as stress, anxiety and fear, many people have online counseling about psychological anxiety from counselors. However, it is easy to cause compassion fatigue for counselors with the sudden increase in consultations. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to the compassion fatigue of counselors in epidemic counseling situations and assist counselors in regulating their state. In this study, we performed semi-structured interviews with nine counselors and focused groups with five counselor supervisors based on the context of online psychological counseling during the epidemic. The results show counselors expected compassion fatigue to be relieved by habit-forming, less physical exertion and quick emotional smoothing. Then we designed a product using gFace++' for facial recognition to achieve fatigue arousal and smart hardware to achieve meditation function. Finally, we performed the usability tests with eight counselors to optimize the design. © 2021 ACM.

ABSTRACT

Remote working and distance learning has become the new normal due to the COVID-19 epidemic that has affected the whole world. In a short time, the security, functionality and performance of existing commercial and open source video conferencing software have started to be compared and discussed. When video conferencing products are examined, it is seen that most of them are developed by WebRTC technology. WebRTC is an open source software library with a 10-year history that enables real-Time audio and video sharing. Its real-Time nature, access from different types of devices and heterogeneous networks, and the variety of data types make it difficult to test WebRTC products in a standard way or with a standard tool. In this study, functionality, performance and usability test of video conferencing products developed by webRTC are told in terms of domestic products. Due to the fact that the demand for these products will increase in the forthcoming years, test methods and emerged results told in this study will gain more importance. © 2021 IEEE.
